The story...
We used to have a bus driver by the name of John Carr. His true love was driving trailer trucks and he had a million stories about the road. John’s stories along with a personal story sparked the idea for “Truckstop In The Sky”. I was writing with Flynnville Train at the time, showed them what I had and we finished the song on the spot. Here’s the story:
A local man driving a gas truck overturned and became trapped. The driver couldn’t be freed and in the last minutes of his life didn’t think of himself. He tossed his wallet to bystanders for his family.
John Carr’s stories made me understand what an impression this incident had on me, as a young boy. It taught me a lot about myself and restored my faith in people’s selflessness for others.
